Associação MY MADEIRA ISLAND is a non-profit association to support the social, economic and cultural development of Madeira Island according to the Sustainable Development Goals. We contribute to the goals by organizing non-formal educational events and actions for young people and adults, at the local and international level, and online initiatives. According to the EU’s classification, the Madeira archipelago is the outermost European region. Its population faces geographical obstacles and requires more programs and projects to keep up with the social, economic and cultural development of continental territories. Since its founding, My Madeira Island has organized non-formal educational activities: international mobilities, local projects and actions, professional and creative workshops, and photo and video courses. We focus on the following areas: Media literacy and critical thinking learning programs for young people and adults; Digital literacy and cybersecurity; Storytelling and creative writing, photography workshops, video-making workshops; We also run an online magazine that talks about the island of Madeira and its people – aiming to present the island through the stories of its people, for the locals and visitors to be inspired about the natural and cultural heritage of the archipelago and Macaronesia region, and therefore alight with our sustainable development goals. We create the photo and video content for the magazine ourselves.
